How Quinn integrates with BambooHR

Does Quinn integrate with BambooHR?

Yes. Quinn supports read-only roster sync from BambooHR, so new hires, job changes, and departures keep Quinn members and training groups current without manual updates. Quinn courses can also be exported as SCORM or cmi5 packages for compatible course types, to run in an LMS you use alongside BambooHR.

If your company runs on BambooHR, your employee data already lives there: every hire, termination, job title, manager, and location. Two questions usually come up: does Quinn connect to BambooHR, and why add another training tool when BambooHR can already track training?

Once Quinn is connected, BambooHR stays the source of truth for who needs training, and Quinn handles the training itself: building courses from your SOPs, sending them to employees' phones, and showing that they learned it. For growing or high-turnover teams, that means the training roster stays aligned with BambooHR without manual upkeep. There are three ways to use them together, and you can combine more than one.

Option 1: Sync your BambooHR roster into Quinn

This is the core of the integration. Quinn reads your employee data from BambooHR and keeps your Quinn members and groups in step with it.

What syncs from BambooHR

  • Employees: name, work email, and mobile phone number, so training links can go out by text with no app to install.
  • Employment details: job title, employment status, and manager.
  • Groups: BambooHR groups such as departments, which you map to Quinn groups.
  • Locations: each employee's work location.

What happens automatically after that

  • New hire in BambooHR → added to Quinn. Active employees are created as learners and placed in their groups. If those groups have onboarding programs, first-week training starts without anyone touching it. Welcome emails go out too, if you turn them on.
  • Role or location change → training follows. Quinn can build groups from job title, manager, and work location. When someone's title or location changes in BambooHR, they move to the matching group and its training. Groups you map from BambooHR add people as they join the BambooHR group.
  • Someone leaves → deactivated in Quinn. Employees marked inactive in BambooHR are deactivated on the next sync. As a safeguard, Quinn pauses automatic offboarding if one sync would remove an unusually large share of your organization.

Quinn doesn't write back to BambooHR. The roster connection only reads data, so it can't change employee records.

Option 2: Export Quinn courses to your LMS

From Share & Export on any course, Quinn exports a SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, or cmi5 (xAPI) package for compatible course types. If you run an LMS alongside BambooHR that accepts SCORM or cmi5 packages, you can upload Quinn courses there, and the LMS records completion, pass or fail, and score. Check with your LMS admin which formats it accepts before you export.

Live packages load the hosted Quinn course, so updates you publish reach learners without a re-upload. A self-contained SCORM 1.2 package (beta) is also available. See running Quinn courses inside your LMS for package types, voice and roleplay behavior, and passing scores.

Option 3: Send completions to your system of record

If you train in Quinn but want HR to have one place to look, Quinn can send a course.completed webhook each time a learner finishes a course. Your HRIS team or integration partner can route that event into a downstream workflow, such as adding a training record through BambooHR's API. Webhooks live under Settings → Developer → Webhook Endpoints once your Quinn team turns on developer settings for your account.

This is not the same as native, two-way write-back to BambooHR.

How to connect BambooHR

Setup takes a few minutes of clicking. The part that takes longer is getting the right person at your company to authorize it.

  1. In Quinn, go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect HRIS.
  2. Under HRIS Provider, choose BambooHR.
  3. Your BambooHR admin authorizes the connection, so loop them in early. Depending on the option shown, they either sign in to BambooHR or enter your company's BambooHR subdomain (the "acme" in acme.bamboohr.com) and an API key.
  4. Quinn runs the first sync. For large organizations, the first pull can take a while.
  5. Open Configure Mappings and map BambooHR groups to Quinn groups (for example, BambooHR "Plumbing / Dallas" → Quinn "Plumbers / Dallas"). Use Preview to check the result before you save.
  6. When your members and groups look right, turn on welcome emails and launch.

If you use an API key, create it from a BambooHR account that can see every employee, such as a full admin. A key can only read what the person who created it can see. Your Quinn team can walk through field mapping with your HRIS team on a short call.

Common questions

BambooHR already tracks training. Why add Quinn?

BambooHR can record employee training and certifications, and that may be enough for some teams. The question is whether you also need a way to build and deliver the job-specific training itself. That's the gap Quinn fills:

  • Courses built from your SOPs, so training reflects your equipment and procedures.
  • Practice, not just slides: scenario lessons, 3D equipment simulations, and AI roleplays.
  • Training by text, with no app to install.

You can keep tracking required HR training in BambooHR and use Quinn to build and deliver the rest.

Some employees or fields are missing after the first sync. Why?

If you connected with an API key, check who created it. BambooHR limits a key to what its creator can see, so a key from an account without access to all employees can leave people or fields out. A key from a full admin account fixes it, and your Quinn team can help you update the connection.

What if an employee's info is wrong in BambooHR?

Fix it in BambooHR, which stays the source of truth. Job title, manager, and location changes come through on the next daily sync.

What if we're moving HR systems?

Connect the system that's live today and switch the connection later, or invite a pilot group directly in Quinn so training isn't blocked. Quinn matches synced employees to existing members by email, so their training history stays intact.
